Im on a fixed income and over whelmed as to what u can do to AG's...I love to mod stuff but have short pockets......for a backyard plinker are there any real benefits of putting longer bolts/probe in my guns..for example my 13xx /22xx guns...many thanks
The extended probe will ensure that the pellet is completely past the transfer port and engaging the rifling. I think any gains seen will be minimal unless you are consistently blocking off the transfer port with a particular pellet.

Here is a way to cheaply make an extended bolt. I've done it and it works well. This is by "cwlongshot".

I've always thought it helped power and accuracy by placing the pellet into the rifling. I don't know if I'm right or wrong, it's just what I do. ;)

Nice write up, unfortunately I don't have all the necessary equipment to do it...Im getting an order together for Mellon Air, will add a bolt to it .....Ive got a huge garage, shame its not a proper shop...
I did mine with a hand drill. If you have a couple of the brass bolts a mistake doesn't mean that much. If you wand some of theose bolts, just ask & I'll bet you get a ton. ;)
Mellonair has the best(cheapest) prices on parts. I just ordered 3 days ago his turnaround time is 4-5 days before shipping but I got conformation my parts are in the mail.
His extended bolts are $12 and hollow probes $15-$18 can't recall exactly. The extended probe seats the pellet exactly where it needs to be and doesn't damage the pellets. They are stainless steel also they add 10-15 fps to the velocity.
His flat top pistons and valves are a total of $30 together where as most vendors charge $30 for just a valve or piston.
When on a budget look to mellonair. The wait is well worth it
Ill 2nd mellon air. I have his flat top piston and valve in my 1377 and well as long probe bolts in all 3 Crosman guns, 2 barrels from him and a few other parts.
