Title: Original 77 sight modification.
Post by: rick_1940 on May 06, 2011, 02:54:52 PM
I really hated the notched rear sight on my phase 1 1377. The alternate peep sight was to small. Then I remembered an old Jack O Conner article (remember him?) where he said the best thing to do with a William's peep sight was to unscrew the insert and throw it away, as the eye would automatically center the front sight in the larger opening. I drilled out the original peep sight to 3/32". Bingo! Works like a charm for these septugenarian eyes.  :)

Rick, WELCOME to the forum.  :-*

Thanks for posting your great solution for the  1377 sight.

I also like to use peeps, and spent the money on a Steel breech
just so I could put a Williams WGRS peep on my 1377.

With your idea, I could have saved the $$$ and added weight.
Ajustment would be a bit more of a challange with your reamed out
stock hole. But, I wouldnt have had to modify my front site either.
