I did a little work on my 2240 today added a new barrel band and a little bling,a polished SS end cap from DC and some stainless screws.

Where did you get the barrel band?  Nice looking add-on.

Just finished bluing a custom shop tube and a breech. Both were in desperate need! The breech looks rusty in the picture, but it's not. Actually, it is a nice deep dark black! I had problems getting the last tube I did to stop the rusting cycle. Lets hope that is not the case with this one. I need another couple of hours for the developer to set and then I'll oil them. Tomorrow will be the telling tale.

The results look very good, Rich. I have used many of the cold blues and the Blue Wonder product provides one of the better finishes. I used that product to reblue my childhood .22 rifle (Ithaca M49).

So far it has worked great with the exception of the 150 tube. it may be that the old tube had to much carbon in it and would not stop rusting because of it. I finally got the rusting cycle to stop using Hoppes N0. 9 gun oil. Stopped it in a flash. I have been using Hoppes since I was a kid. No need to switch now! It just plain works well  :-*

I have had a small Adco red dot on a Savage 23b for years... Mostly because I did not want to drill and tap the receiver. Also because the red dot was mounted with one ring and one single base, held on by one factory screw hole. But I got to thinking what am I saving it for? Its no show piece, its seen allot of use and I enjoy shooting it too. So I said WTH and drilled a tapped it for a Rem 760 base. (Same dia tube) I mention it, because doing that allowed me to mount the dot to the 1377 and I could remove the Aim Point red dot.

While I was at the drilling I also mounted a peep on a old Springfield 22, side mount. One hole was there but was not lined up with the other. So i drilled and tapped a 6-40 to allow two screws for the peep.

SO its musical red dot time with the Crosmans!!  :P :P :P :P  I put the Adco on the 2240 and the Ultra dot (Its a bit bigger) from the 2240 on the 1377. Then went down and shot them! Both shot great as usual!

I modified all my valves for 8-32 stainless steel screws.  I made the screw heads an exact fit using files and a drill and, using a dremel-type tool,  cut them off to fit the shallow holes.  The disco valves already have 8-32 threads, I just notched the front for the hammer pressure relief hole.  I tapped the 2240 valves to 8-32 with a bottoming tap.  :)

??? ??? I don't know anything about the 2240 valves YET,but what does that do for them!!! :-[

ped

a precision fit like that will stop the valve from moving when you screw the co2 cap on
the standard retaining screw has at least .020" play, if you take the breech off whilst you have a co2 cart in you'll see that the valve exhaust port is pushed out of alignment by the ammount of play in the standard screw head
i prefer to pin from either side with m5 grubscrews after i've aligned the valve port with the main tube
