While my Prod trigger frame is traveling back from being powder coated I got to work on the trigger this morning.

I was surprised to find it was made from steel instead of the usual Crosman alloy. I worked it over with the Dremel tool and some sandpaper. Next I applied a couple of coats of cold blue until the trigger had a gray look to it, scrubbed it with baking soda to stop the bluing process, 0000 steel wool with oil, cleaned with acetone and applied EEZOX.

Nice!

It's little tips like this that makes CAPOF a great resource.   Next time I blue a small part I'll have to try this.

That trigger looks awesome ...   :-*

There is a new sound in the shop.  It's not too loud at all.  I can talk on the phone, hear myself hum yet... but it's there.  It's continuous. And on the second day I can nearly block it out.  My new play toy is a vibratory tumbler and over the next days and weeks I will teach myself some media tricks from deburring to fine polishing.  Yeah, I'll still have to use the blaster sometimes, the bench grinder others, and no doubt one of the two double wheel stand polishers, but I can already tell this has much potential to get me real close on lots of things as it runs itself.

Right now I have nearly everything but the kitchen sink in the thing just seeing what results I can get with the media I have started with. There are hammers and triggers and sears and frame pins and (crazy me) a drop of delrin and aluminum rod just milling about.  Then I'll go to another... and another.  Finally the recipes will reveal themselves to me.

Good times.

Chrome, nickel, copper, brass, silver, gold.  I know you were kidding, but plating will happen.  It has been on the list a long time. But, the remaining items on that list IS getting shorter all the time so it is getting closer.  I've done that (seen after, actually) before on a larger scale.  Wee little parts will be a breeze.  Finding the time and deciding where to put it is the issue. Small amounts of really nasty by-products have to be dealt with. Gotta be legal careful where / how one disposes of the chromic acid, etc.

Ya... the plating chems are on the bad list with the EPA, that's why it costs so much to get plating done, the storage and disposal costs more than the chems! Not many vendors left that are willing to play with Holder and Chairman "O" and the self appointed green-gods in DC.

Try a teaspoon of Nu Finish car wax in there. They say it works wonders for polishing with walnuts.

Dusted off (3) 1377's and (1) 1322...  I have not shot in a very long time, and the weather and outdoors is calling to me.

What's been fun recently was seeing the results of some Mother's polish after giving a few triggers some attention.

This polish really is good stuff - it was suggested here.  :-*

Nice Aaron  8) had to put the shades on to look. ;D
As for me I've tore down and put back together my 1377 to many times the last couple of days. Got it figured out and this accustoms flat top set is working good.  5 pumps 500 fps that's good enough for me. :-*
