Title: Early 14.4” barrels
Post by: Garmic on February 17, 2020, 03:32:24 PM
Just a question if early crosman barrels had 12 lands, a barrel that a previous owner had put on a 2240 which was older. It had the 2 screw metal side cover and the barrel had been polished as well and I counted 12 lands. Newer crosman barrels are 10, right ?

I think that is correct (10). The LW's have 11 or 12. Been a while since I counted them.

Well I wasnt sure if I had read somewhere that early crosman barrels were 12 also, if not then I have some sort of after market barrel. It has been polished to a chrome like finish and it seemed to be more accurate than the new 14.5" barrel I got with my 2250b kit when I first tried it with open sites. I checked for choke and there is none but I have been seriously thinking about getting a lothar walther barrel for the 2250. I guess I will try the older barrel on the 2250 with the new steel breech and hollow probe and if its noticeably better I will then blue it and start looking for an 18" lothar walther for the 2260 carbine.

That sounds like a good plan. You may just have a diamond in the rough. Hope it is an LW. That would be great!
