Title: Davio's CCS 2300 KT
Post by: Davio on August 03, 2012, 07:47:23 AM
I know, I know.  I just got the 2400, but this WILL BE ALL for quite some time.

First, a picture (then a few comments and critiques).

I took the standard sight off and replaced it with the muzzle brake that was on the 2400.

The MIM sight that I ordered with the 2400 but never installed is now installed on this 2300.

This gun has the "brass" trigger shoe that is physically identical to the black one I have on the 2400.  However,  the "brass" is a color shade that I am not fond of, so it needs to go back for a black one. I wonder how large a ration of grief I'll have getting that arranged with Crosman since they don't sell them individually, there is nothing really wrong with the part, etc.?  We will see.

Where I am tickled with the faux carbon fiber on the 2400, the black pistol grips on this 2300 are loosely fitting and hollow feeling / sounding.  RB walnut satin finish Sportsman grips are due tomorrow.  I figured the plastic grips would not be to my liking when I ordered.

Speaking of loosely fitting: the carbon fiber stock on the 2400 is also a bit loose.  I can easily move it a small amount.  I slightly tightened the screws and that helped a tad, but not completely.  I am hesitant to torque too much.  Maybe I can find a thread where somebody has a fix for this as I suspect it is common (since both of mine are both slightly loose).

This 2300 will get the UTG Leapers red/green dot sight, but I can't find the dovetail to Weaver adapters I ordered and received weeks ago.  They'll turn up as soon as I give up and order more. ;)

This gun (and the 2400) will get a hollow bolt (Mellon) and PA (Art's Shack) soon. The Mellon bolt handles are cute in a pygmy-sized hand kind of way, but I'll get his larger brass ones soon.

Now I see how it is.  Two days of Crosman ownership and I already have one set of black plastic grips, one brass trigger shoe, two Mellon bolt handles and two Mellon PA's that I do not want or need.   :)

Not a problem.  There will always be guys that need parts.  The little things you don't need are easy to give away or sell unless you are trying to make money on them.  I have even sent small parts overseas to guys that have trouble getting stuff.  Plus I have a box or two of spare parts to keep my guns going if I lose or break something.
Cheers,

Cool man congrats again on another new Crosman! You will always find a good use for spare parts.

If you need a black trigger i have a few i can give you one if you want. I use the cloth type electrical tape on my sholder stocks, just wrap the grip frame with i small piece this will help alot.  :-*

One sure fire fix for the stock wobble (if you're eyeball is straight enough) is to drill and tap a small hole in the bottom of the frame right through the bottom of the stock handle. Then countersink the stock hole and thread a flat head screw in with a dab of blue loc-tite. That will secure it once and for all. Here is the thread...about half way down there is a picture.

Too funny!  I've never swapped a barrel in my life until the 2240 and now I have two extra barrels, springs all over the place, sight posts, front sights, etc., all over my bench.

Hey all you guys with the pristine black triggers.  I just picked up a 1322 project gun and it has a plastic trigger??  :)  If one of you gentleman would like to sell one of those triggers please let PM me.  PayPal standing by.  I ordered $50 worth of parts from Crosman about an hour *before* this 1322 arrived.  D'oh!  :D

Yeah, I knew it was a gun made from parts when I bought it.  The grip frame has the two-screw metal side plate.  Inside everything's normal but the trigger (a fellow forum member is taking care of that--thanks again!).  The tube is slim-screened 1322 or etched--whatever you call the style that is superficial and more desirable.  I'm very happy with it.

Sorry for the thread hijack!  Davio, I hope you're having as much fun with your new guns as I am with this one!

I represent that remark !   ;)  Hijack away.  Good stuff.  Thanks.

I am having a blast (no pun...) with them both.  Daughter brought Grandson over and said that the gun was all he had been talking about for two days.  I had already sighted the scope pretty close at about 25 yards.  We took turns shooting at a really thick-walled empty freon can.  This young man (Alex) is only 3 years old, but he hit the can on the third try and a couple of more after that. The look on his face was absolutely priceless when he rang it the first time. All his other shots were at least within 10" of the can. So in a matter of less than 30 minutes he knows three things: He knows that he can hit his target.  He knows to stand behind whoever is shooting... and he knows that the pellet gun can mess a can up pretty quick.

Daughters and Son took a few shots, then Wifey tries but the stock is way too long for her and she insists in using her left eye from a righthanded position.  Then, the magic moment: SWMBO states that she is a great shot with a pistol. So in the shop I go and out I come with the 2300 that she knew nothing at all about (even though she signed for both of them).  "So you got two guns?", she says grinning.  "Yep, me and Alex won't have to take turns." "So how much have you spent on guns?" (still grinning but with a pre-wince (for want of a better word)). "Way less than half what I spent on your anniversary present a couple of weeks ago." (July23rd).  Game, set, match.  LOL.

Oh, and she wore out the Sharpie marks I made on the steel door with her pistol shooting.  I better keep an eye on her.

She also said, "Seems like you could put more than one pellet in at a time".  OMG... stepped right in it.  :-* So I say,"Oh, give me a little time and I can make both of them shoot ten in a row."  "Oh, that will be good".  I wanted to high five myself, but that would not be pretty to see.  You know what I mean... ;D

Two bags of concrete for the outdoor shooting gallery posts going in tomorrow.  Great fun, indeed. It seems to be something everybody likes.  I do not go to shooting ranges.  What is a good height for a shooting "table"? 36"??? or 42"???  Is there a "standard"?

Yes, as they say in the old country "You can't pass up free etching."

The 2300 reads *Grimes' 2300 KT Pistol*
The 2400 reads *Grimes' 2400 KT Carbine*

So....I could send ya a case of cup-a-noodles, 2 bottles of Tabasco, a brown paper bag and a couple packs of gravy mix...
You send me the 2250b, no crying now, and we be cool.  You can then go to the Custom Shop and get something you like  :-*

nice addition Davio ;)  I'm lovin' my 2300KT and right now trying to figure out other mods I wanna do to it. It IS getting a brand new BNM breech w/ weaver rail and shroud holder...atm waiting to hear from them and mike @ TKO22 to see if mike's carbon wrapped tubes will fit on the breech... I wanna go to a 20" and will need to figure out barrel size depending on if Mike or Serg will be making the shroud for the soon-to-be carbine... I'm also STILL waiting to hear back from John (hellgrips98) for a forearm to match the grips he made for me that's currently gracing the pistol

The 2300KT is always a good choice. Of course, I could not leave mine alone and ended up with a BNM repeater breech and shroud on it. Oh, then a P-Rod grip frame/trigger followed by a pressure adjuster. Can't leave out the zebrawood grips. You know how it goes...

yep sure do....I have a bunch of custom brass on it atm, and black palm grips (hence the reason i want a matching forearm for it from Hellgrips98)...the brass power adjuster will be taken out for a stock adapter and stock (poss. wire stock from GMAC)

Update:  I got a few things done to the 2300KT this evening.

The PA is installed, the RB grips are on, the dovetail-to-Weaver mount is on, so I could finally hang the Red/Green Dot.

The trigger was adjusted to as little pull required as possible.  No idea how much, but it is easier to pull than it was.

No chrony, so just seat of pants.  More pellets sticking to the wood since the PA install and adjusted all the way in. However, I can tell that the 2400 spanks this 2300 big time.  It hits way way harder. Maybe even way way way...

Looks good!!  Love the grips!

I hear what you're saying about the 2400 vs the 2300.   My 2240 absolutely smokes my 2300S.  Not even close.  I have some spinner and metal popups.  The 2300 smacks them nicely--the 2240 knocks the crap out of them :)  (I don't have a crony either)
