Buck Rail makes some nice products. I recently received his 1/2-20 moderator like yours which mates up nicely with a threaded  aluminum barrel band which I purchased on ebay from Han Chen in Germany.
they're not hardened and not great quality steel tbh but what is these days

Geeze, I did a light review of the manual when I took the air gun out of the box and just kept plinking. I'll give it a drop of oil.

Wish I was at the coast. I made a Southern California turn around to pick up a few items my brother's widow wanted out of the garage. One item is a Sheridan "Blue Streak" 5 m/m air rifle. Haven't looked up what it is yet or if parts are available. The rifle looks like it was in deferred maintenance.

A couple drops of oil on the piston cup might help, it's probably breaking in, some people get fancy on oil I just use air tool oil...

It's a small world, you must have been heading to the coast :)

I just passed through your town yesterday. HA! I'll take a look at my breech screw hole. I am gentle when loading a pellet to ensure I don't warp the skirt of the pellet with the pin on the bolt.

I have noticed too that I'm getting less velocity with four pumps now that I've used a half a can of pellets. The pellets aren't imbedding into the plywood as often and the gun isn't shooting high on the lowest rear sight setting any more.

I think FT pistols are limited to 12x mag scopes, and most of them use rifle scopes, not pistol scopes.

The Hawke Panorama 4-12x50 AO is said to be very good but it is now defunct.

Are you tweaking your 1701P for more power and charge, i.e., transfer port change and air tube replacement?

Looks like it has 11mm dovetail on the top which leaves things pretty wide open, assuming you are leaving it as a pistol find a reasonable looking pistol scope and go for it, should be many options on Amazon or Pyramid air or whatnot, I don't have any pistol scopes so I can't recommend anything directly...

Other causes could be nicks in the pellets from the breech screw recess or just dented pellets being unstable. But yes, the target would show the keyhole too, could just be hitting grain different in the plywood too, I've seen that before when shooting into wood before, didn't give it much thought...

Thanks for the advise. :-* I'm trying to stay in the moment and enjoy what the 1377 is out of the box while reading the archives and learning about how an air gun works, and what this little toy can be. It looks like prime time for these guns was a decade ago or more. I've gathered a great deal of information on trigger tuning cheap tricks and look forward to having a free afternoon to apply those mods. My buddy is more in the fast lane, already planning what to create first. Okay, and second...

Glad you guys are out there!
