You know what they say 'There's one born every minute'.  But on eBay they line up in droves.

What you do not know is if he sells many, if any, of these parts. He may have cronies that bid up the price and then complete a fake transaction after the sale only to relist again.

What would that accomplish other than losing a fee to ebay?

Those times that the bids are run up high, and the guy makes the sale, he more than recovers the piddly listing fee. The whole concept is to create value where there otherwise is very little.

Bigger question is, why aren't we all doing that very same thing with our left over/spare parts?

Heck, with just a few sales we could be buying more guns to work on and create more parts to sell.

Anybody???

I ask myself that question and i would rather hang on to them for one of the members who just might need a part. Or even build another gun.

$8 here $10 there
that will start to add up if thats the case
ebay makes a little over 10% from each sale not including the listing not to mention the 4% paypal makes off each transaction

You sell something for $10 you are lucky to get $8.50 in your pocket. Fees, fees, fees, we need more fees! Sounds like Gov. brown in Ca. More fees, more taxes.

The choice is there. I have bought and sold on eBay, parts that did not sell here, have sold for up to 3 times my forum asking price!  Also, bought parts that I could not get on the forums and may have laid a premium, but it was by choice.

Must be because they an get more money on eBay but I've seen dealers with no stock on their own website but they have the same part on their eBay web site for twice the price.

And if you're desperate enough, well...

I long for the days when ebay was mostly ordinary people selling their used items, not the mostly commercial sellers it is now. There were some great deals to be had back then. From reading some of the sellers feedback, it seems a lot of them are selling items they may not have in stock. The buyers are stuck waiting until they get the items in stock. Some sellers will tell buyers they do not have the item in stock and refund payment if it didn't sell for enough, even while they have the identical item listed multiple times.

there has been only one part i needed that had to be bought on ebay
1 its not readily available here in the states
i contacted the machinists out here in the states they all quoted me $30-$40 plus shipping
a UK supplier came through for me for $16 shipped it took 7 business days to get the part.the machinists i talked to said it would be at least 14 days before they stated and 14 days later wasnt gauranteeded with pre-payment
ebay does come through
i have sold stuff there i knew i couldnt sell anywhere else for more than the buyitnow price once the bidding started buyitnow disappears
i threw in some extras when i get double or triple the bin price
