Title: Custom Shop: What is the difference?
Post by: 62Falcon on February 16, 2011, 08:49:38 AM
Between the pistol and the carbine?  ???
I want the 2240 with the stock and 10" barrel.
Thanks!

A pistol is a handgun.
A carbine is like a cross between a handgun and a rifle.
Take a look at some pics in the gallery...you'll see. The 2240 can be turned into a carbine. Add the 1399 stock, maybe add a longer barrel.
Modify it up like crazy and have fun!

I'm getting a 2240, but I'm leaving it a handgun as my modified 1377 will be my carbine.

The carbine has a longer barrel than the pistol but a shorter barrel than a true rifle.
Carbines are normally lighter than true rifles and the shortness of the barrel is due to the application of them when used by the military. Easy to move around et cetera. Carbines and rifles normally have furniture on them too unlike a bare bodied pistol.

Carbine used to mean short rifle.

No, not what I meant at all. I know what a carbine is, I have one. The Custom Shop shows two choices, pistol or carbine. The pistol is the 2240, what is the carbine? Both can be ordered with stocks and extended barrels. The picture of the gun bodies are slightly different. I would like to know what the difference is in the gun bodies if anyone here knows. Thanks.

Not really sure but I think it's similar to any other 22xx, probably closest to the 2250.

They are both based on the 2240 pistol or really the 2250 valve system as the 2240 uses the 2250 valve.  You can see this by looking at the 2240 Exploded View Parts list.  Anyway, the carbine just has the foregrip from the 2250.  That's it plain and simple.

Two other points as noted by NorthStar.
The CO2 body tube on the 2250b is longer than the 2240 body tube.  And the 2250b fore-grip/hand-guard would be too long for the 2240 body tube.

I think its a carbine if the barrel is 18" of less, longer then 18" it becomes a rifle.

Oh, one other difference is the co2 tube is longer on the 2250b.
The 2250 handguard is too long for the 2240 (or at least the UK pistols/carbs are that way)

Thanks. I did not want to assume they were the same. I hope to be ordering one in the coming months. My Bday is in April, perhaps then.
