Title: I received this old jewel via USPS today
Post by: Wayne52 † on January 11, 2019, 05:14:06 AM
A super nice type 1 Crosman 150, this is the third one of these I've got and it's my first type one and it sure is a jewel.  There's a new seal kit for it on its way here that also includes the valve stem/poppet assy.

Thanks Kevin, I was pretty happy when I first laid eyes on it, seems like on the ebay auctions they're never as nice as the pic but that wasn't the case with this one.

Here's the first one that I got which is the only one of the three that I have that has a brass valve in it and the only one that I've sealed so far.
The pellets are ones that I cast from my NOE 217-20-RF mold and they're all right about 19.5 grains, they're great shooting pellets too!!!

This is the second one that I bought which I suspect was made before the first one that I bought.

You have some slick looking 150's.  :-*  I sure do like the Gen. 1 you just got.  Really good find.

Thanks for all the great replies everyone !!! I got her all sealed up yesterday and she seems to be a great shooter.  One thing that I did notice is on this gun lo and high power are actually about 100fps apart, on lo power it's shooting at about 315 and on high power it's doing about 420fps with the JSB18.13's. It's very consistent on accuracy too.  When I had the gun apart I couldn't believe how nice it looked on the inside, even the hammer assembly was really nice and clean looking.  I've probably had more shots through this gun in one day than it's had through it in 62+ years  :-*

I see the price marked on the box is $14.95. I'll give you $20.00 for it. A full $5 profit. 25% profit you can't pass that up.

;D  I paid $142.95 by the time it made it to my house, add another 31 dollars for the seal kit and I've got $173.95 invested.  I'm going to get hold of some peek or delrin and try making my own poppets for guns on my drill press but I'd much rather have a lathe for that but then you're talking way more money.

Here's a good five shot group I did at five yards with the nice one that I did the day I sealed it up.

shoots well Wayne
peek is too hard for seal material on co2
go with ptfe or carbon filled ptfe or delrin but I think delrin is a bit hard really

ped I just ordered 5 feet of virgin PTFE on ebay, I'm going to enjoy tinkering with it to see what I can do. It would probably be good for restoring a lot of the older co2's poppets.
Title: I did give the Ratty one a face lift a few days ago

I've been pondering on doing a bluing job on this gun since soon after I bought it, in the past it had been polished by the looks of it which really left it exposed to rust by the looks of it when I bought it on ebay.

I think it was maybe five or six days ago I went ahead and did a half way oil blue on it with a propane torch.  I had seen on youtube how people have done their guns this way with decent results but I admit I did cut a lot of corners when doing this one but it looks a heck of a lot better than it did . . . not quite so ratty looking. This old gun has seen a lot of wear but it's a good shooter today with the best power out of all 4 that I have. I'm going to try getting red squirrels this coming summer with one of these guns, this one here is doing about 8fpe with my cast pellets

that's come out real well
I find the virgin ptfe a bit floppy to machine if you want to try the carbon ptfe i'll be sending some parts to a mate your side of the pond so can add a bit and I'm sure he'd forward on to you

Thanks for the great replies everyone !!!

Here's a target shooting video of my latest purchase from Ebay, it's a nice one too, I bought for $79.95 buy it now, before I got the gun I was thinking maybe the valve needed replacing but the threads in it were still good, someone had assembled it with the wrong screws in the wrong place.  I put new o rings in it and used secret sauce on the valve poppet for 2 days prior to getting the gun.  It's a fantastic shooter too.

nice
I made a couple of 180/400/150 stems these are a first try and I have since made a couple of qb78 stems (close to a 160 size) and have added a machined nut to stop the stem from being pushed into the ptfe

Looks like you did a fantastic job on them for sure.  I'll probably try making inserts for the brass piece with the virgin PTFE I've got coming, it's scheduled to be here Saturday.  I see what looks like clear inserts in one of those photos you posted there.

Here's a picture that I took and I included a stamp that's in this most recent 150, wondering if anyone has seen this before and is there any significance to it.

I make replacement stem seals for the qb78 and some are new stem seals and some are tp's
I did make a few from the same carbon ptfe to as a tester to see if it's viable for self fitment
as to the stamping I have no idea could be a service station marking

I haven't used photobucket for a couple of years now, I've been using Flickr myself.  I did win another bid on ebay for a nice Ted Williams 126. 1909 (Crosman 150) that will be here next week sometime.

Here's a video I uploaded to youtube this morning, it's got picture animations at the beginning as well as a couple other animations that I made with Blender. I left Alvin in charge of the targets.

Thanks Kevin and Brutuz !!! I've sure been having a lot of fun with these pistols.  My favorite of the five that I have is still the second type1 one that I bought.  It's got an original Crosman poppet in it too, I soaked it in oil a few days before the gun came from the Ebay seller.  That makes 3 of these five guns that I have original Crosman poppets in.  Getting to shoot good and be reliable for many more years to come I'm sure, they sure don't make them like these anymore, they're built like tanks.  I think as long as a person doesn't let a gun like this dry out once all the seals are good in it the only thing you'll ever need replacing are o rings.

This one is my favorite, everything on it works perfect and it's in really decent shape. I really
like the fact that the slide on the type1's open much further than the type2's for pellet access.

Very nice Wayne, I have been watching them on ebay and the prices are all over the place.
Some can be had cheap, while others go to the moon.
