Title: Cocking the 2240
Post by: Jimbo on January 28, 2019, 04:50:28 PM
I read in my owners manual that when you pull the bolt back on the 2240 you'll hear two clicks. Well I just put a hammer spring guide in mine and at first the bolt wouldn't come back far enough. I saw where the one breech screw and also the screw on the bottom were long enough to push into the spring so I ground them off so that they wouldn't and now the bolt comes back like it should but it only clicks once. This in a new aluminum breech from Davio.

The spring is likely bottoming out (coil bind) due to the space taken up by the guide's spring seat.

Also check that the rear cap machine screws are not intruding into the spring bore.  (apparently already checked)

Maybe I should snip off a coil or two of the spring?

the first click is when the sear goes into the waist of the hammer the second is when itcocks fully
