Title: Custom shop 1300KT in pistol config
Post by: HahnRuss on May 01, 2018, 03:56:55 AM
I am thinking of ordering a custom shop 1300KT with a 14.6 in barrel with notched sight with pistol grips.

Is this barrel length manageable as a pistol?

I will be shooting targets and at metal silhouettes. Other choice is a 1701, bit more money and I'm not crazy about pumping but I do have a hand pump. Funny I don't mind pumping my backpacker or the 1377's.
Thanks for you thoughts...
Russ

My 1322C carbine has an 18" barrel - it was used as a pistol for a while.   That was getting close to but not unmanageable.    :)

Six pumps of an MSP for 22 shots is 132 pumps.   Never really counted the number of pumps to refill my Marauder pistol from 2050 psi to 2900 psi (22 shots of 14.3 grain pellets at 667 fps average, 28 fps ES), but pretty sure it's under 100 pumps.

Seems a 1701 would get more shots than the .22 Prod.

A good running MSP (1300KT) may have a bit lower ES since each shot is a new charge of air, nominally at very close to the same pressure.

Best price for a 1701 is about $282 - a CCS 1300KT with LW barrel is $135 - pretty substantial difference.   Neither would have a rear open sight at those prices.   The 1701 would have the excellent Prod trigger assembly.

Just some ramblings.   You may well have known these things.
