I was just there last week for a funeral. Only a mile from CT Airguns and I just did not have a chance to even get over there for a few minutes  :(  Maybe the wife will want to visit relatives by then, but at last take, the next trip that far north isn't until fall, so no show for me again this year.

Cool. I'm only about thirty minutes from there, so I'll definitely keep it in mind. Is it one of the bigger airgun shows, at least in the Northeast? I've only been to 'gun' shows.

If there were any possible way, I would join you for breakfast.  I'm in Louisiana and the nearest airgun show is in AR and I have never been able to attend that one.  I've never even been to NY.
Would be really good to get to know some of you guys in person.
Y'all have fun!

Works for me as long as it's not too far from the event. Thanks for looking into it. I've never been to Windsor either so it's a first for me.

I emailed Kevin, who I believe is an organizer and he said as of now there are 40-50 tables/vendors. That may sound like alot but the last gun show I went to had 700. It took about two hours to see everything. 40-50 might take 30 mins?
Title: Re: Connecticut airgun show
Post by: arkmaker † on May 28, 2012, 11:13:50 AM
Ahhh, don't let that get you down! That should give you more time to talk with the vendors. Find out who's around in your area and maybe pick up some good tips! Make it what you want it to be.

Make sure you talk with Kevin at Connecticut Airguns. Has a sterling reputation. When I was up in CT for my wife's Dad's funeral a couple of months ago, I was only a mile from his shop and just did not have the time to stop in.  :(

last year it was pretty small also but the best so far . i don't think any "AIRGUN SHOW" is going to be very big.sure some are bigger than others with locations and such.gun shows draw more people attention because more folks shoot them or are more interested in them .airguns are (bb guns = daisy red riders) to a lot of folks
Title: Re: Connecticut airgun show

my neice pays more attention to my guns than others
when she sees me with a gun she will come over look at it and say thats a new gun are you going to work on it,too?
that usually gives me away, then ill say im working on it for a friend.all eyes then rotate the other direction ;D

I decided to swing by the show. There were plenty of interesting tables, but I was on a budget. Saw lots of nice Crosman CO2 guns, and lots of classics. Some real nice Mk1s and revolvers, one of the Mk guns had about a 14" barrel. There were plenty of nice classics as well, old 1377s and Benjis with the lever pump handles and wood, but out of my price range.

I saw a 1389 below a dealers table with a $50 price tag and I asked him if I could look at it. He replied that he had just bought it himself, and wasn't ready to sell it actually.  :(

Went back to a table that had an assortment of old pumpers and an old backpacker that I thought had an exorbitant price tag. When I more closely examined the price, I was mistaken, it was only marked $35. I told him I'd give him $30, and he agreed. It was somewhat of a gamble, because I really only wanted the brass valve and the backpacker forearm... the gun had lots of surface rust on the barrel, the tube, and the cocking knob.

So I've oiled the poor neglected girl up, but she'll always have rust spots unless I scrub it. The stock release button worked, so I got that off. It holds air perfectly and seems pretty accurate. The pellet loading systems pretty neat. I was surprised to see that the receiver appears to actually be milled for a dovetail and scope? I didn't think they were...

I have a 14" barrel in .22, so I'd like to maybe make a backpacker with that and the steel breech I have lying around.  Here's a question for 1377x or someone who knows -Will the brass valve in the backpacker be a direct fit into the modern 1377 guns, or is it designed differently? When I mod it, I may change the frame and receiver as I'd like to probably get rid of the cocking knob. For now, I thin it was a decent buy, if just for the parts.  ???

The valve is exactly the same. Good buy on that backpacker

Damn I didn't see that backpacker, My dad scored a used RD30 for $10, and left his phase 2 with Smith Airgun Repair for a trigger job.  I got some more wadcutters and I now know how I'm going to create a reactive target for the Garden now. Spent a lot of time looking at really pretty riffles and thinking I am really happy I don't have a bigger addiction that have now

The gun definitely looks neglected. Plastic has dings and scratches and the gun looks like it was left on a burlap bag in a leaky shed for a few years.  ;D However, it's a been there done that gun and I think I did alright. Oh, and most of the rust looks external, there's none on any of the parts that were covered by plastic.  :-*

One good deal I saw but didn't take up were the Crosman pellets. They had the cphps in .22 and .177 for $6 a pop. I'm decently stocked though. Had CO2 carts for .50 cents each, not bad.

13 hours in the car, 500 miles, $100 in gas, $100 hotel, $16 tolls, $25 food and bought $100 in airgun stuff. Worth every penny and finally got the Crosman 99 I've been looking for (although it needs some work) :-*

Here's some show pics:

Nice pics! I'm glad they had an ATM in the back because I forgot too bring much cash. Had to really restrain myself from buying stuff. Have bought about 7 guns in 3 months.  :D

I can't see the price tags on the 600s, but do you remember how much they were going for?

The pic didn't come out that good. There were lots of 600's there. Prices were from $125 plus. Most were in really good condition. There seemed to be more rifles than pistols. Kevin may have gotten better pics.

"Hunter"  what do you know about that pellet loading system? Was it a short-lived design for the backpacker or maybe....?  ???

that pellet loading system was used on a pistol, the SSP250(1989-1995),the rifle version of the SSP250,the 262(1991-1993) and the 1389(1989-1998).it stop with the 250 and the 262 when the production stop for those and continued 'til '98 for the 1389 when they ceased production

There's another one coming up in July. I think it's around the 20th. I won't make that one but have enough projects for now anyway  :) If I can figure out where I put the flyer I'll post some more info but I know it's a show and shoot and is in NY.
