Title: Anybody have a Crosman 362 yet?
Post by: Davio on January 14, 2022, 09:55:15 PM
Please tell me all about it. I do know it uses the same tube diameter, valve and piston cup as a Backpacker. I assume that with the longer tube it also has a longer stroke as well. I see the standard plastic breech and rear sight like all the other 13xx and 22xx guns, so assume a steel breech upgrade is a possibility.

I do not have one yet, but interested to know if a 13xx trigger frame can replace the plastic rifle style trigger group and rear stock.

I do not have one, but it appears the trigger frame is die-cast, not plastic, but delivered without facility to adjust.   Needs to be drilled and taped for screws.

There's a heck of a lot of people putting .177 barrels on them as well as the steel breech, the breech to get is the forward breech screw type when getting the steel breech.  I've decided to just leave mine stock for now because the gun the way it is will be perfect for a back yard pest gun with the peep sight.  I have so many guns that are better suited for long range when I go for squirrel at the state land I feel no need to really scope it.  With the peep sight they're so much faster to get a quick sight on something rather than using a scope, especially for very close shots.  There are quite a few already ordering a second gun as well, it's been a rage over on GTA for sure.  Very little even mentioned anywhere on AGN though, that's par for the course over there though because pretty much all those people seem to be more into the high end guns.

Although I have no need for a 362, I have a very accurate C9 and HW35 wearing peeps.
I am 77 this year and the peeps are fine for me as they are for Wayne..
The HW35 is used for monthly short range Silly Wet matches..

Thanks for all the info. Mine has shipped so I should have it soon. I have a 392 and a C9PB already, so I will chime back in here as soon as I see what this inspires.  ;)

I got mine in yesterday, the pump stroke is LONG but it's a nice little package, familiar parts, little narrow at the grip but decent, shoulders well with the peep, trigger a little stiff but not bad, I only put like 3 pellets through it yesterday though... it packs a wallop at 8 pumps, I don't have any regerts... :)

INSPIRED? VERY MUCH SO! What a great powerplant. Stroke is much longer, but very much easier. The piston length is CRAZY!

I threw everything at it: grip frame, Pump RP valve, +25% port, sear adj, shoe, steel breech, and on and on. This will take 12 pumps without retaining pressure in the valve. The most penetration with 12 pumps (21 to 23 layers of carboard) of any 1322 valve I have ever experienced even 20 pumps. Eight pumps penetrated 18-21 layers. I gotta schedule a chrony session with myself!

Living in Michigan like I do I won't go out in the woods with all this snow and super cold weather we've been having, I've set up a little 30ft shooting range in my attic and it sure has been a lot of fun shooting this gun.

My friend, I swear that thought occurred to me when I saw the fpe specs on this 362 model (over 16 fpe iirc). I think it exceeds what both UK and Canada will let you have legally, but if that is not the case let me know and we will see that there is at least one in the UK soon!  ;)

cheers David it's over our limit as std so a bit of detuning would be needed
once they've been out a while and spares are available the key parts would be great

Title: Re: Anybody have a Crosman 362 yet? OEM Hammer Pin Breaking
Post by: Davio on February 26, 2022, 07:06:07 PM
I have heard from several customers that there is a known problem with the supplied OEM stronger-than-13xx spring and plastic spring guide that the hammer pins are breaking in fairly short order.

I took a new one apart and found that the OEM spring will dump the valve after 12 pumps repeatedly. I removed it and put a 13xx spring only to find that it would not dump 8 pumps ever.

To cut to the chase, the easiest fastest fix was our hardened stainless 13xx hammer pin. It seats perfectly in the stock hammer (no wobble at all) and should be unbreakable for several lifetimes.

Welp, I ordered one. Too interesting to pass by, hope it's a nice little shooter.

The 362 appears to be all I wanted my custom 1322 rifle to be (and apparently that's the idea behind the design, too).  I will probably get one and have Davio put his upgraded valve and other bits in it, and transfer my long steel breech, TKO moderator, and Hawke Vantage 4x32 scope to it.  I've read a ton of posts about it on GTA and am still hungry for more; but I think I'll go for it.  I'm aware of the Dragonfly competitor, but a disadvantage to that one seems to be that the only scopes it can handle are very short, and I'd have to buy another scope rather than transfer my Hawke Vantage to it, something I can do with the 362.
