I understand about how the squirrels react after so many shots.  Here's what my population has resorted to lately.

I have them raiding my fruit trees in the summer. I've pestered them with a 25 dollar airsoft gun for the past two seasons. I now have a 1377C carbine with red dot sight.......he he he. It is tempting but not safe in my backyard unless they are on the ground or high up in the trees; gotta mind your backstop! The old lady hates them so I may get to shoot some this season.
