I believe that this is the "best answer" to the OP's question. Oddly (perhaps not), the Crosman website currently shows 2 versions of the American Classic (.177). One is listed as the  P1377BR the other as the P1377. I used the website's comparison function to look at them side-by-side. The general descriptions for both are exactly the same! The differences in the specifics that I can see are: 1)the color of the pump arm and grip (black for the P1377 and brown for the P1377BR), 2)the "best seller" status for the P1377 and 3)the $21.67 difference in price ($84.99 for the black model and $63.32 for the brown model). Everything else is the same for each model. I do suppose that since the black pump arm and grips give a more "tactical" vibe, that feature could account for the "best seller" accolade. The 25% difference in price may be how Crosman plans to reduce their stocks of a less popular model. Just sayin'  ;)

Not the greatest quality but it works. With RWS Hypermax pellets, it shoots between 620 and 630 fps. Lead shot seems to average 545 at 10 pumps. I'm satisfied.

His retirement will really be a loss.

I wonder if someone will buy the shop.

UPDATE

My sister communicated with Don, and ordered a 3/8" stainless steel barrel band and a stainless steel standard sized 2400 breech.  Don mentioned that he will probably retire at the end of the year, and my sister said that he was super friendly and helpful.

Apparently he has many parts that are not necessarily listed on his website as was the breeech that I ordered.  Various websites attest to the fact that his parts are very nicely machined and finished.  If anyone is presently modding a Crosman or contemplating doing so, give Don a call or use the online parts request form.  Some of his SS parts are not available on other websites, and the supply will dry out in the not too distant future...  :-*
