Crosman air pistol - General discussion / Re: What's the difference

Based upon the statement "the models of the crosman 1377", there is more to this.

The early Crosman "1377" rear cocker (RC) was made in three variants.  First RC pistols had a steel breech.  Later RC pistols had a plastic breech.  One variant used a magnet in the probe to retain BB's.

Later "1377" pistols, beginning in the late 1990's, are known as the Crosman "1377C".   These are the versions with cocking performed by a bolt handle attached to the probe.

IMO, the rear-cocker pistols were generally of higher manufacturing quality.

Yup, that's a nice setup! I have a 2289 that I bought about 11yrs ago that I've modded in a similar fashion. It was called a "Backpacker" back then. Mine was part of what they called the DOOMSDAY Kit  8). The original Backpacker had a 14" barrel but the Doomsday version came with a 12" barrel, (allowing it to fit in the backpack that came with the kit) so one of my mods was to get a 14" barrel. I too, replaced the OEM plastic breech with a steel breech. Other than weight, are there additional advantages to the aluminum breech? I also mounted a cheapo Gamo 4x20TV scope.

I see that in addition to the scope, the OEM rear sight is still in place. It looks like it just might interfere with the view thru the rear aperture of the scope, perhaps not.

I never gave much thought to replacing the pump arm pivot roll pin but now my interest is piqued. I've made a couple from brass rod stock in the past and may do so again.

I also see that mounting a scope definitely makes pellet loading at least a bit more difficult. Many here feel that pain. I'm unsure exactly how to solve that problem other than a far forward mounted scope (aka extended eye relief).

Bottom line, as alluded to at the start, the current version of the 2289 makes for a great starting point for the usual upgrades as well as "glamming" the look!

Crosman air pistol - General discussion / Skanaker 88 Revival
Last post by ruhlsksn88 - January 25, 2024, 03:28:00 PM
I found this site recently looking to revive my Skanaker.
I had seal service done 20 years ago by Michael Archer, Lino
Lakes MN, and happily shot the pistol for several years, then
put it away until now.
In testing the breech seal is like gum, but internal seals and
cylinder seals appear the be holding.
I have been trying with no luck to find replacement breech seals,
all leads run into dead ends, so I'm turning to the shooting
community to see if there are people who have information on
keeping our old guns working.
Any help on service/parts would be much appreciated.

The Holosun also has a quick release mount whereas the EOtech does not...
