Title: Yet Another Picatinny Rail Mount
Post by: quickster47 † on March 24, 2016, 03:23:38 PM
Okay, here is another way to add a Picatinny rail to your gun.  This time I chose my trusty 2289 Backpacker because I wanted to use a Red Dot for fast critter acquisition.  I used the same Magpul piece, trimmed front and rear to better fit the front of the Crosman metal breech, that I used in the 2240 Picatinny rail modification.

You can see the two holes in the breech that I drilled and tapped for 10-24 x 1/4" button head screws.  You can also see in the picture of the breech the two additional holes I drill and tap for 8-32 x 3/32" set screws.  I do this to most all my breechs where I have a longer barrel mounted.

The only thing I might try on my next installation is to mill out the underside of the Magpul Picatinny mount so it will set closer to the boresight of the gun

nice work Carl looks better than using a dovetail to weaver adapter

Thanks ped, I thought the same thing.  Especially after I used one or two of those adapters and they just didn't sit well.
