I ordered a barrel and a hammer from Charles Melon on Jan. 19 and still haven't got it, is this typical from him?
I ordered stuff from two different companies on Feb. 14 and didn't get them until Friday. I think the winter storms seriously disrupted things lately.
I had never visited his website until just now after reading your post.
It looks as he has some nice products at reasonable prices.
I occasionally sell stuff on eBay and make sure to inform the buyer of the tracking number, that way the buyer knows that I have completed my end of the process and that any delays are due to the delivery process and can at least know how the item is being bounced around and where it is being held up.
Did Mr. Melon give you a tracking number?
Keep us posted on what is going on and that will help me know whether on not to order from his website.
I have order items from Charles several times. Mostly .22 caliber SS flow-through probe/bolts.
Always good stuff, always arrives. Ocassionally in two weeks, frequently longer.
My only experience with him resulted in a cancelation due to my on impatience and his (lack of) communication style, but everything I've read indicates he's on the up and up. I just don't believe making parts for airguns is his first interest.
He takes a long time generally.
Good, fast, cheap: pick 2.
It's worth the wait IMHO.

I kinda agree with you Sweller and this is the second time I've ordered from him and no tracking numbers.
I always plan ahead with Mellon orders (Plan ahead - very rare commodity for me)
Try Banggood. Seven weeks for my last order. (and make that my last order)
Bad, Cheap, Slow - Pick all if you wish.
Mr. Mellon ( charles ) is a one man shop... He is a down to earth type of guy ...
read what he says on the site ... he is a top notch guy....
his parts are worth the wait ....
Well Kevin, coming from you is golden to me !!

Yep, he's not quick, but definitely reliable. Good stuff cheap.

:-* :)
Sorta like the Seinfeld's "Soup Natzie." :) ;) ???
However, Charles is a great guy to deal with and an excellent machinist who makes great parts.

Good description. And his parts are great too.
Ordered some parts for a 1377 in late Jan, sent a follow-up email in mid March, got a prompt, polite reply saying he was running behind and my parts would be done soon. Just received a new 2300s from Crosman, so I'm occupied for now. If Charlie's parts are as good as everyone says at his prices, should be worth waiting.
As others have said, plan ahead.
:)

Some parts are worth waiting for.
Don't have a single Melon product though, as I prefer Don Cothran's, which is also somewhat of a long wait--about 3 to 4 weeks.
The parts that I want are usually not available from him (Mr. Melon), so this is the reason why I have not ordered from him yet, but I am sure he makes fabulous parts as well at an affordable price.
I also tend to request additional tweaks to my parts (at an additional cost), which Mr. Melon does not acquiesce to unlike Mr. Cothran.
On another note, I am still waiting for some laminate furniture (3 sets) from Vernon Austin, which are on their 7th (?) week now.
I don't bother him when he does his thing, but I do email him when I want something changed or modified a bit.
Got an email from him about a week though, and he told me the inletting for the sets are already done---some final exterior reshaping and sanding are all that are needed :-*
Again, some custom parts are really worth waiting for :-*
Let's see, last time I ordered from Mr. Melon. I knew in advance, he didn't like add-ons. I added on, my mistake. I knew I had to wait. Waited. Got my stuff. Was happy with what I ordered. Man, been a while since all that happened.
:-* Update on my previous post. USPS brought a package of parts from Mellon this a.m. Haven't installed yet, but they look good.
Getting another order together for some more mods coming down the path.
