Just over on the Green and read that the 2260 is not being made any more :(
Anyone else hear this? no longer on PA's website (2260SE is still there). Also says Out of Stock on the Crosman site.
Rich
Yes it is a sad day for us Crosmaniacs. Still not sure what Crosman is up to these days. My mole has not sent me any data in several weeks. Time to increase his salary I guess...
Carl
Merging with Remmington made the future of Crosman a crap shoot! They are not good partners. Still have not re-opened a "Marlin factory", only sucked them up into thier existing factory lines. So what your buying these days is a Remmington and not a Marlin IMHO. Nothing but contempt for Remmington, sorry for the vent! :-X
Rich
Has anyone asked and got a response from Crosman as to why they are discontinueing so many cherished models?
At this rate the third party makers will have to step up to fill the gap being created from lack of guns!
i didn't ask but yes they discontinuing the 1760 and the 2260
I guess the three guns crosman don't make any more will be classics some day. ??? Hope they are makeing something to replace them. :-*
Mike
thats really a shame. Now I feel like I need to buy one real quick before they're gone everywhere lol.
J.Austin
It seems they're going more and more down the PCP, cheap springers and BB plastic pistol route?
I prefer airguns that still look like airguns rather than a semi auto bb copycats.
Whats odd to me is, in the UK, your more likely to be shot by the police with a lookalike and probably see
them used in holdups more so. Why make something harder to distinguish - even if its a nosy neighbor that spots it.
Not that the (UK) fuzz would think twice about if its an airgun or not, it just isn't policy to find out and I don't blame them! ;D
I'm guessing crosman make more cash from plastic mass production pieces Versus metal/wood pieces? Greed perhaps in the current climate.
I wonder if Crosman ever announce new management joining the company?
Has some new bellend come up with a poor business plan and an exotic chart for the Big Suits to cluck to $$$ ?
CROSMAN - WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
I imagine 20 years ago if the internet was as it is today, we would be having the same conversation about Mk1's and 600's! ;D ;D ;D
Next thing you know 12g co2 carts won't be made anymore! :o
Rant over....I feel better ;)
I couldn't agree more man, I don't like the direction they're heading either. These companies are going to take the fun out of it if they only start to offer extremely cheap plastic toys OR extremely expensive pcp guns...I just dont understand why these large companies cant realize that by chipping away a few pennies here and there they will lose more in the long run when people lose interest. people like wood and metal not plastic...
It is very difficult to remember that we here on this forum and other forums that cater to Crosman and other airguns comprise a minuscule amount of the Crosman business. And while they do read these forums occasionally they probably don't pay too much attention to us because we are such a small part of their bottom line.
Carl
lets say their pcp's aren't really that expensive in the world of pcp and like carl said we on the forums are probably more in tuned with the airguns WE like and know verses the average joe who are crosman's bread and butter folks .
Fair dinkum mate! :-*
the heck with it............I'm going to start my own AirGun company!! Now, to find the bankroll ???
Maybe Carl will sell all of his guns. that should cover the start-up costs for a crosman-sized corporation. LOL J/K, I really have no Idea how many he has, I just assume it is quite a collection, based on everything i've read in hundreds of threads here.
J.Austin
The makers of the QB78 (good copy of the Crosman 160)may be pulling apart a 2260 as I type....
Hope any of the guys at Crosman read our threads :)

Yey, finally someone noticed the same thing I did - Webley are taking on the older Crosmans it would seem.
Both the 2240 and 2250 are carried by webley - so there is hope that the other models will follow in suit?!!
I haven't physically had a hold of one from webley yet, I'd be interested to see if there is any difference at all....
... maybe I'll go looking for one this weekend!

I've seen them think they come with an 18" barrel on them and that is the only diffence I could see I'm tempted to get a crosman 2250 and keep it original they my be come collectable one day if orignal and boxed

I think they come in both 14 and an 18" but I may be wrong.
I thought about keeping one stock - I just can't! Its like a cake you can't eat! ;)

And with all the great gun builders here and great thinkers the forum could start our own air gun company :-*
Even more bad news - Highland outdoors (Webley official distributors in the UK) - W2260 - DISCONTINUED!
lus I popped to my local RFD/Fishing shop to see if he had a 2260 in stock as he was flogging them for £105 - he sold the last one to a "chav in a shellsuit" just over a week ago, it'll probably be wrecked and in a bin by now :(
well i know your all crossmad so i will say this quietly SMK XS78 OR QB78DL cough cough lovely cheap guns to work on for projects similar in desighn and you can do this to them (http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l630/azzbat/CIMG0232.jpg)
aaron :)
Yep, that's going to be the way to go for Co2! Unless ofcourse you step up to the Disco or Marauder.
An no one even say it!!!!!!!!

Damn Chavs.... they should be banned from airgun stores. They should save their money to get out of a shell-suit! ;)

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a chav and a shell suit?
This description and image pretty much sums it up:
http://chavspeak.info/chavs-and-sleeping-around.html (http://chavspeak.info/chavs-and-sleeping-around.html)
Basicly the UK equivalent of white trash... a blight on Ol' Blighty!
This is a typical young couple - by this age they normally have about 4 kids to live off the welfare:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/10/06/chavscum/ (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/10/06/chavscum/)
Ahhh....Punks! Crackheads! Bangers! (in US speak). Down here in the South US, we kinda think of white trash in a little different way. Even the wealthy have a tendency to go a little WT on us every once and a while and ahhemm, well I've been known to wear a t-shirt from time to time (colored with a pocket, ofcourse). :-*
Well, atleast some of them hold airgunning in high regard, there is a positive outlook on the subject!
Yeah, I thought about it after posting. It's a stereotype, theres always exceptions!
But STAY AWAY from Burberry, a classic brand scarred forever as CHAV camo! :D ;D :D ;D

just order in all the parts you need and build it its that simple costs you 2 times as much but if you want it youll pay for it, now here is the bad part as each gun is discontined you got 7 years then 2 things happen either no more parts as all or they will cut off the most needed parts to keep it going but fear not there are guys out there liike me and other that can make those parts and many others and keep them going forever
Only 3 Co2 rifles left on the Crosman website;
1077 (not the AS)
2260 SE
2250 XE (The Outdoorsman)
That's it folks! Looks like Crosman is getting out of the Co2 business. I'm thinking that the 2260XE will go next when supplies run out! So sad, cause I love Co2's!!!!

this is what crosman is trying to stop by changing their design.they didnt even let their repair shops know they were dropping certain guns where as in the past they were the first to know, from i have been told by 2 different sources that have nothing to do with each other.
1377x, do you mean Crosman is trying to stop the third party companies by altering their designs more regularly?
Or to stop the spare parts being available? Or am I completely missing the meaning! ;D
And 7 years for what airsmith282?
Sorry long week syndrome, brains needs de-fragging! I can just about ID an apple at best! ;)

I'm thinking that it is US law that a manufacturer needs to carry spare parts for 7 years after they discontinue a model. I thought it was 5 years and wasn't aware that it included guns! Which is a good thing for us!
Rich
Oh OK cool. That is good news! 8)
uhhh... I dont think so.

in my quest for as 2250 parts i was told by the parts suppliers that crosman doesnt want people building
guns from parts thats what crosman told them.
i dont know about the laws.crosman does have repair stations they didnt let get parts.so wheres the 7 years there
any need an as tube ???? im done with that project
I thought that seven years rule only applied to cars or other big ticket items.
Just cars, IIRC.
I know you all know it now, but for those of you that don't know, IT'S BACK!!

This thread is over three years old. They are available. I bought one when the came out last year (2013) and heavily modified it. It's a great gun.

The guest were looking at this thread, that is why I brought it back up. Just for those that did not know. Even on GTA, they did not know that is was back. :-\
I just don't get it why are doing this. First it was all of the AS guns and now this.
Mike.
