This is my first post and my first pellet pistol .I am getting my Crosman 1377 pistol and BSA red dot scope tomorrow and was wanting to know where on the barrel I should mount the scope?I have seen pics and some of the scopes are mounted half way down the barrel, also how far should I stand away from the target to sight the scope in?
Welcome to the forum. Is the 1377 new, used? If it has a steel breech you can mount the BSA where it suits you. Sight in at the distance you plan to shoot most and with your most accurate pellet.
It is new.I got the one with the black grips and got the barrel mounts to go along with the BSA(3/8").

That being the case, I guess I'd mount the red dot an inch or two in front of the plastic breech. I'm using a BSA red dot on my 2240 (with a 6.25" Crosman steel breech, 12" .22 barrel and 6.5" muzzle brake). I have it mounted as far forward on the breech as it will go, so I can get the best balance out of it.
If the OP gets serious about modding the 1377, a steel breech is the number one most important upgrade one can make if you want to use scopes or red dots. The 3/8" dovetail mounting grooves in the breech make it possible to mount a wide variety of sighting devices.
mount it where it is comfortable for you

As 1377x says or as it says on the box (optimal eye distance).
