What work did you just do?

The third time is a charm.   I tweaked my son-in-laws 38T one last time.

I was only getting around 350 ft/sec, so I adjusted the barrel to just kiss the cylinder without creating drag as shown below.


This brought it up to 414 ft/sec.  Before the adjustment, the barrel to cylinder gap looked more like the pic below, and I was getting a pretty good blast of CO2 out the sides.


Here is a shot string plot for one powerlet @ 70 degrees.   You can load the gun 7 times for fairly consistant shooting, and one more time before it drops below 350 fps.


I think it's ready to pack up and return

I get the same shot count out of my 38T .... low 40's, and then tapers off.  I'm gonna check my spacing ... thanks for the tip.

I love my 38T ... just finished shooting it too!  It loves the Stroeger X-Sport pellets.

  Put a Flat Top Piston and Vale in my M4 177 todayA word of advice don't try to put a spring guide in the hammer spring , it will not work! Iknow I tryed today! I also put a flat top system in one of my 66's today. No range report yet! Will post them in a day of to. :-*

Here's a pic of my homemade hammer spring guide. Had to trim the OAL from .910 to .890, I was getting intermittent sear seating issues. After trim, no problems.

i opened up a stock transfer port using wyoman's and an improvised method ;) not a drill
first i rolled some 330 grit sandpaper really tight stuck it in a dremel and let it spin.once the hole got to big for that roll i made a bigger roll and bigger until i couldnt open it up anymore :D :-*.
havent had time to use it yet or install it.oops :-[ sold all my breeches but i have another gun that isnt going to get much use so i'll borrow the breech until i get another one.
its going to be interesting to see what the difference will be between the stock tranfer port and the modded one will be ??? .might get some poly tubing and see if that makes a difference between the modded t.p. and the poly
another thing i did was covered my ldc' with heat shrink tubing :-* what a difference that makes it gives the tube a whole new feeling and a little bump protection ;D .still need to do my accustoms shroud it needs the most protection which brings me to a question i need to ask in another section

I just took a look at my 38T to see about the spacing you show, and I have almost no spacing at all.  The cylinder is right up against the barrel.  I tried to get light to shine through like you did and theres a noticeable difference. I just have the tiniest crack of light showing through  Is your 38T a .22?, or a later version in .177?

I'll try to get some pictures of it, next time I have the camera out.

The 38T in the picture is a late model .177. with a plastic cylinder.   I just checked my 38Ts, and a similar late model .177 has less space showing.   I also have an early .22 with metal cylinder and it shows even less space.    I guess it's just individual variation.   The trick is to adjust the barrel on a case-by-case basis for smallest clearance that does not cause drag on the cylinder.

fitted a rear sight to my boss 2240 repeater it's the same as what archer airguns sell ,i also started making a gas cap but the cutter bit in the lathe :-[ so back to square one i think i'm going to buy a stainless one

Nicely done and, that rear sight takes up a lot of real-estate on that breech, good thing she's a repeater!  :-*

i've mounted the sight pretty far forward it would fit a standard breech brian
cheers ern its builds like yours that inspired me to do a pistol(used to be a good pistol shot but now i'm pretty pants)
