Thinking I NEED one of these...

I dont see alot of posts. I know its a base model... Is a 2300 a better option/ I mean Im gonna mod it with most of what the 2300 comes with...

Its NOT about the $$, the fun is in the building I think...

Advice?

EDIT; I bought a 2240 5/1/13. ;)

You hit the nail on the head.

But you definitely need more than one.  One is boring...

Depending on what you are tyring to build, you might consider a build from the Crosman Custom Shop (CCS). You can go with a 2300KT pistol or 2400KT carbine and customize it with parts offered by Crosman. Sometimes you pay as much or more to build up a 2240 when you could have had a CCS gun at a similar price.

I started out by ordering a CCS gun, and then buying a 2240 to shoot while I waited for delivery. I then began modding the 2240, I modded it so much, I had enough leftover parts to build yet another gun, a stock 2240.  :P  So now I have three. Have fun whatever you decide.

If you know your are going for the steel breech and a LW barrel (etc.)... you actually save some ordering a CCS gun. About 10% or so.

The CCS gun also comes with the upgraded trigger frame, that includes the trigger pull adjuster. If engraving it sounds good to you too, that is also a perk. It takes about 3 weeks for it to be built and shipped.

Many guys order a set of 1701p grips ($1.74 apiece), as one of their first changes... along with modifying the trigger to be lighter and smoother.

Thanks guys!

Now I am a bit more confused....

I checked your link and also looked at the ''barn''. There seems to be a number of valves.. with a bulk fill and a mod stem valve and a internal check then a mini bulk fill and a standard...  What do I want??

I want to use a standard CO2 cylinder in a standard tube. Its gonna be a plinker/target gun. I just want better velocities and performance. I'll for sure add a steel breech (LEFT hand this time) and mod the trigger with altered springs and polished parts. I read about the advantages of the adj power valve and then I read its not useful really...

I was speaking with a friend who is also interested in the 2240. We may make the plunge into a couple of them very soon! I see Wall-mart had CO2 on sale for $20 for 40 cylinders.  :o I had my wife grab a box yesterday. I'll go again this weekend for a couple more. eBay is selling them for TWICE that!!

The $20 for 40 is their everyday price normally. I just find that they are many times low or out of stock, so if they have some and I am half out or so... I grab a box.

REGULAR PRICE HUH!?!  Wow. I did not know... It's been many years since I was buying them. The couple boxes I have are black Crosman with the snake on the box.  I'll pick up a couple more to ight if they have them. My local store had about 5/6 40count boxes.

I keep hearing 2240's at Walmart. I'm wondering if that special order only?

I've never ever seen a 2240 live and in-person at WalMart.  Seen plenty of 1377s in the store. I think you might can order a 2240 and pick it up at the store only.
