Just got a 2240.  Only shot a few last night but it is definitely the loudest the loudest airgun I have.  If any airgun could benefit from some sound abatement this one could.
But fun to shoot so far, punches thru tin cans pretty easily.

Yes the unmuffled 2240 is a wee bit noisy.  Perhaps it is time to consider an LDC/Muzzle Brake from TKO Airguns, http://www.tko22.com/.

I've never wanted something so useless in my life.

TKO's are good 'uns..I have a 6" on one rifle and a 5" on another..both of them look, and work, GREAT !

I have a 2250b, and a 2240 with a 10 in. barrel. Before I put one of Mike's excellent muzzle brakes on the 2250 I noticed it was quieter than the 2240. Even with the longer barrel, the 2240 really ROARS, can't imagine what the stock 7.5 in. must be like.
Longer barrels are slightly quieter, but to really hush things up, need a shroud, or brake of some kind.
