Will my stock 2240 bolt fit into the crosman 2240 steel breech ?

NorthStaR

Yes IF you can get the bolt arm out of the bolt itself. They aren't threaded like the one that comes with the steel breech
hence to remove it from the plastic breech you must pop the bottom half out. BUT your steel breech (if a Crosman) will come with
a new bolt (unless stated otherwise).

Probabley the most improtant thing you could change is that plastic breech for a metal one, good show!  :-*

Thank you I did not know that the steel one came with one..

eric

you need to make sure it's the KIT --- that should include everything you need .there are two one for a .177 another for .22 . order just a breech and that is all you will get
TOO many freaks and NOT enough circuses

NorthStaR

Sorry...Eric is quite right. I'm in the UK and all I can get are the KIT's... I hadn't thought of them not being in one.

Although I did add that tidbit at the end! Always read the small print!  ;D ;)

SO it depends on what's been ordered. Worst case scenario - you either refit the old bolt or purchase a new one.
The latter gives you choices; extended, hollow, brass or steel...

What are the advantages of the extended?

NorthStaR

The extended bolt pushes the pellet into the barrel further past the transfer port (where the gas enters to push the pellet).  ;)
A hollow probe allows gas to flow through it to the back of the pellet.

Similar effect but different approaches.

This is a link to some videos showing a test of both:
