The day after I received my 1377 which is about 30 years old the dern valve stopped working. I took it out but I did not see any problems. Has anyone else had this problem and what could be the solution do I need to grease it

Bentong

Please explain not working. Is it leaking, not holding charge or farting when pumping. :)

TexasGunner

It just releases the air when I pump it

1377x

probably the pump cup as it is 30+ years old
the other thing might be the valve stem
it should be a brass one look where the stem goes into the bell part there should be some green or white material in there it may be cracked from being dried out
come to think of it
just get a rebuild kit.it has all the seals including the pump cup .that should solve all issues for awhile
closed mouths dont get fed

TexasGunner

It's not the pump cup the air comes out of the valve

Valve stem? (as 13377X said) Get a new re-seal kit as he said, they're quite reasonable.

If your inclined you could take the opportunity to replace the entire valve with a flat top whilst its all in pieces (but it will cost more than just a re-seal kit).

Sometimes just a strip down and clean will sort it out. It's surprising what a little bit of gunk can cause. Well actually it's not but I typed it now.  ;D

Maybe a strong hammer spring ?

If the hammer spring is too strong and the spring inside the valve
has been replaced with a lighter one, you may have to cock the gun
to take the hammer spring tension off of the valve to hold the air.

When I was experimenting with springs,  this happened to me.
Try cocking it and pumping after cocking.
Adjust the wind, we cannot.....Adjust our sails (or windage), we should.

what ever you DON"T grease it ---- maybe some pellgunoil or something similar ,no grease ;) those valves are easy to work on so a seal kit will most likely solve your problems ---- 30 years a long time for seals and such .......
TOO many freaks and NOT enough circuses

TexasGunner

I think it is the spring it is a little rusted I am going to change it and will get back to you

get a valve rebuild kit.it should solve your problem
this a 30+ year old 1377 they have a hammer assembly which is difficult to work on
a hammerspring change isnt a walk in the park.ask me how i know :-X
it takes a lot of pounding and some custom made parts to change the hammerspring
if you need a new hammer assembly i can get them new old stock
if you have the tools and the time you can do this for the assembly

I would just get a Flat top valve and piston from mellon or AC Custom this would give your more power and fix your problem at the same time.. :-*

they come from just about anywhere pens, trigger, hardware store
very easily sourced
if you cant find one locally ,let me know
just soak your spring in coca-cola over night rust will disolve
