low c02 cartridge

When a c02 cartridge gets low should you take it out before it is completely empty  or should you empty the cartridge by shooting weak pellets?

I take out the cartridge after the POI drops by .5".  After that it is not much use and fortunately, there is also not much CO2 left.

I just take it out after the pellets start's to drop as carl said it's pointless to keep shooting,plus you can get a pellet stuck in the barrel if you keep shooting pellets some guy's dry fire untill it's empty but it's not good for the valve.
