Today I installed my first FT piston and valve.  Cleaned and polished the tube.  Works great after a tip from 1377x on aligning the port and the threaded hole.

Also fixed an issue on a 2400 with a breech that would never lay flush with the tube.  Tried a bunch of things but shaving off a little on the top half of the TP sleeve eventually did the trick.  Now it tightens down nice and flat with a good seal.

I just finished test fit of the first (of many) sets of smooth ivory colored (through and through) grips.  These are very comfortable and have about 50% again more material in them than the previous checkered grip (whick had nearly twice as much material in them as the plastic standard grips that come on our guns).  These are ambidextrous.

You will see these on Ebay, but I will send a set to any CAPOF member for $18 including shipping. A few of you have already asked, so there it is.  They will not be so cheap on the 'Bay. ;)

You have a back yard like that??!! And your playing with pellet guns?? If I had a back yard like that, I would put a target out on the burm on the right of the picture and shoot my .22. How many acres do you have? How close is your neighbors? Get a real gun and shoot. Give the kids the pellet guns. WOW!!! what a nice back yard!!!

Thing is that burm isn't on the property I'm on (and the neighbor's house is like 30' behind it), I think it's just over an acre but only 80' wide I think, the fence you can see on the left is one neighbor, and the property line goes to that other little piece of fence you can see on the right by the burm... standing in my back yard you can see 3 neighbors houses... So, I stick to airguns, less unwanted attention, I got turned in by someone up the street for "running an unauthorized auto repair shop" because I had a non running car sitting in front of my garage for about 6 months, turned me in before even saying anything. I like living here but the 14'x14' garage and ~800sf house make me want something bigger, with the creek there isn't room to expand if I decided to buy the place (I'm renting now). Thanks though, I do like the place, the creek and pond are kinda fun to watch in the summer (it's about a foot deeper than it's normal in that picture). I try to limit PB shooting to taking care of moles, I've gotten good with my trap but a 22lr pistol works too if you see them at the right time :)

ok, that got long winded... :)

That repeatable thing always gets me, trying to make two parts exactly the same!

Try duplicating a tapered fuel cone for a gaseous fuel carburetor, it's a piece of aluminum about 5/8" diameter at the base but tapers down to about 1/4" after about 5/8", talk about a pain!!!! I got to the point of making .050" steps then freehand tapering, marking where I've been with a sharpie marker then trimming that away, then run the engine and see if it worked and chuck it up again if it needs modifying :) that's why my lathe has been at work and not on my work bench...

After making that pivot pin I remembered how nice brass is to work with, doesn't gall up the tools and near perfect finishes are a snap compared to aluminum :), I just shaped the head of my pivot pin with a file

Scroll (rotary) compressors have air gap tolerance in the millionths.  Try to find a feeler gauge for that !    ;)

Excellent polish job, BigErn. A tip for you... if you do not envision needing to adjust the stock, drill and tap the rod and install longer set screws to a]keep the adapter and butt stock from twisting out of position. I did this on my workinman straight stock and it was real solid. Set screws pushing into a round piece of stock never really holds well.

That's a real good idea Larry! Do you know the size of the set screws on the stock?
