Brent - The other thing you can do is move the barrel closer to the o-ring. This is just a smidge of a move, but I did it and worked out good.  Before loosening the barrel, mark it on a clamp point so you know where the original position is.  I also deburred and polished the OD of the lead in side of the barrel so it would slide smoothly when contacting the o-ring upon closing.

I probably have 1000 rounds through my P-17 ... 950 after I moved the barrel. As you may recall, I had several leaks when first purchased .... it still remains tightly sealed. This gun is da bomb and a blast to shoot.

QUACK,QUACK,QUACK!!! The P17 club is forming!  :D On the topic of the o-ring, I use a small wood dowel to seat the pellet so the pellet does not scrape the o-ring when closing the gun. I just took a brake from shooting mine. Buy one, you will love it!
We need to keep going and have fun doing it.

I love my P-17s, I bought 4 of them from big supply $29.00 and change. Gave 2 to my son's in law. We all love them. Very accurate and a great trigger. And all this for short money.

Thanks Jon, forgot about them, that's where I got my Benji Trail. Cancelled the Amazon order, and ordered from Bigsupplyshop.com $35.81 with shipping, saved $6.

Have one of these as well. Great fun in the garage, and way better than it should be given the price. 8)

Has anyone used a pellet pen to load one? I've never had one so I don't know if it would fit behind the locking bar (or whatever it's called).

I'm not sure what the locking bar that you refer to is but I have used a pellet pen and it works OK.  I don't usually use one because I can manage pretty well with my fingers and I like to use the K.I.S.S. principle.  That is, the pen is one more thing to keep track of/loose.  I think pellet pens work best for break barrels.  Dave (dptrucker32chip) showed me some he made out of Bic pen barrels and vacuum caps that work fine but there is no catch or restriction to let only one pellet go at a time.  Index fingers work very well instead.  He had a variety of them in his shooting gear with different color vacuum caps for different types of pellets.

Was doing some internet research on the P17 and found this. A multi pump P17, made with hand tools and drill press, using a piece cut off the P17 piston.  :o

Nice if you are ready for the pump exertion and material failures that will come with use  :D

P17 IMO was meant to be a one pump, 10 meter shooter, enjoy it that way and keep it for more than a few months without breaking :-*

Cheers,

I mean the small rod that goes straight across from where you load a pellet. I think it's what catches to keep the breech latched closed.     ???
