As in the subject mentioned, looking for a shot string of a 2240 .22 with a 10" barrel.

Considering to upgrade my 2240 with a 10" barrel and just wondering how the velocity is increasing compared with the standard 7.5" barrel.

Thanks   :)

Here is a string, but it is not just a straight swap. I was testing probes and had a valve reducer in there. But it does show the increase over a 7.5" barrel.

so switching the barrel would still leave a 2240 with a 10'' barrel would still be below 6lbs? pretty sure i made a thread asking this question the other day

Yes, a bone stock 2240 with a 10" barrel will shoot just shy of 6 ft. lbs. If you are shooting where ambient temperature is 80 degrees or above, I could see the gun hitting the 6 ft. lb. mark. If CO2 conservation is of no concern, installing a modified BOSS valve likely could get the gun to shoot harder.

Thanks both ! So there is some velocity increasement by switching to a 10" barrel and it seems that the 2240 becomes more accurate as well  8)

Hoped it was more close to 500 fps, but then I have to switch to 14" or more I guess..

If you are looking for 500 fps, you pretty much are going to need to do some valve modifications and increase barrel length a bit. Look at the BOSS valve. http://www.airgunbna.com/ Click the link on the left called 'Application of Parts'.

Thanks - I leave it up to the barrel replacement only  ;)

If you switch to a 177 barrel, you might hit the 500 mark.

Nah, mod the valve, heavier hammer spring you can get it up to that ok, eats gas though.

Maybe the new barrel is better than the stock barrel. But longer barrels are not "more accurate"
Some how, this became a widely believed fact.
I think it was the PA blog where an experiment was performed on a LOOONG 2240(?) barrel. Velocity was measured, then barrel cut, then velocity measured again, rinsed, repeated. It was about velocity, BUT it also showed barrel length has no impact on accuracy. It shot the same at the end of the experiment as it did at the start.

the longer the barrel
the further apart the sights are.giving a better sight picture
hence the better accuracy
its not that the longer barrel is more accurate, its the longer sight picture where the better accuracy come in

Ding,  ding, ding....that's the correct answer. The longer sight radius makes the gun easier to shoot more accurately.

Sounds fair... !

Maybe I was "misleaded" by the word spread in the shotstring information:

I went with the 12" barrel, glad you posted fps for the 10"
